** This seminar presents the application of Dr Murray Bowen’s family systems theory as it translates to systems in the workplace.
- Fundamentals of systems thinking – Getting clear about the most basic ideas of using a systems lens.
- Regression and its consequences in an organisation – Utilizing Bowen’s concept of societal regression to describe how the process of regress operates organizationally and its consequences
- How people apply these systems ideas in the workplace – Case examples to illustrate

“Thinking Systems” is akin to sailing against the wind, when people faced with workplace responsibilities confront the intensity of an anxious organisation. When under pressure to look for the quick answer, people who understand systems thinking have an additional set of tools to aid their efforts to manage effectively and to keep sight of goals and principles.

Daniel V. Papero, PhD, LCSW
Dan Papero is a renowned speaker and author on Bowen Theory and its applications. Based in Washington DC he is both faculty member of the Bowen Centre for the Study of the Family and maintains his own consultancy. Dan has been a popular, engaging speaker at workplace seminars for the Family Systems Institute in 2006 (Leadership in the Age of the Quick Fix) and in 2008 (Triangles in the Workplace). He consults with family businesses, federal agencies, school systems and corporations. He serves on the editorial board of Family systems and of Family Business Client. Dr Papero currently gives around twenty invited presentations yearly to various professional groups across North America on topics related to family systems theory, family psychotherapy, and the functioning of corporations and organisations.
