2004 June - Annual Conference

You Can Go Home Again

On June 5th, 2004, 75 people attended our inaugural conference titled "You Can Go Home Again", which focussed on Family of Origin Coaching.

Murray Bowen's theoretical concepts were illustrated via the stories of therapists' own efforts to define themselves less reactively in the families they grew up in.

2004 August - Official Opening

A warm welcome to and from the Family Therapy Community

On August 3rd, 2004 approximately 50 invited guests attended the official opening of the FSI, including Lyndal Power, President of the New South Wales Family Therapy Association, who wrote the following in her Winter 2004 editorial.

On May 28th 2005 around 60 people gathered together on a cold but sunny Saturday in Mosman to explore the therapist's own family with a particular focus on the reciprocal pattern of over functioning / under functioning.

2005 December - Growing Up Is Hard To Do

On Friday 9th December 2005 International Guest Presenter: James Smith with over 30 years experience in Bowen Family Systems Theory, presented a half day seminar on understanding triangles in the therapist's own family.

James Smith is one of the founders of the Western Pennsylvania Family Centre in Pittsburgh where he is currently faculty director.

APS Logo Most of the Family Systems Institute training programs 2012 have Accreditation with AASW. Members will be able to claim double CPE points (2 per learning hour) for completing the programs.
